Promoting English Readiness For Effective Care and Trust of Nurses
Project Brief
The PERFECT project concept emerged in 2023 as a response to the growing need for effective English-language training in educating nurses. The idea originated from classroom experience and discussions among educators and healthcare professionals who observed that both students and practicing nurses often lack sufficient language competence to communicate confidently with international patients, colleagues, and Erasmus+ students. The project aims to bridge this gap through an innovative, collaborative approach that combines linguistic, professional, and digital learning.
By implementing the project, the PERFECT partnership seeks to create opportunities for student and practicing nurses, healthcare professionals and health teachers by improving their English language skills required for their work to provide efficient care, build stronger patient trust, and have better career opportunities.
The synergy of the partners’ extensive experience and expertise in English teaching methods, healthcare, and educational technologies will produce solid intellectual outputs that can further be applied in self-study and academic training contexts within and beyond project target groups.
For this purpose, PERFECT will implement a number of in-person and online activities to share experience, develop course materials and the interactive book, followed by the course and book piloting. Upon attaining these, the partnership will offer relevant learning opportunities to in-service nurses and disseminate the project results beyond the partnership. Thus, the project will contribute to enhancing public healthcare services provided in Estonia, Slovenia, Croatia and Ukraine.
The PERFECT implementation will facilitate the improvement of English language proficiency among pre- and in-service nurses and healthcare professionals via the dedicated developed (1) updated course “English for Nursing and Healthcare”, (2) the interactive book for healthcare professionals, (3) online learning opportunities for in-service nurses, and (4) project results dissemination beyond the partnership to create lasting impact and bring positive changes to the participating institutions.
